Joan Marie Motl Tucker Meyer, 73, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away August 12, 2016. Joan was born in San Angelo, Texas, on May 8, 1943, to Oscar A. Motl, and Velah C. Patton Motl. She grew up in the Tankersley Community, southwest of San Angelo, on the Twin Mountain Farm. She credited her spirited personality to the freedom she experienced on the farm and her Czechoslovakian heritage. The family moved into San Angelo in 1960, when she was 17. She married Kenneth Tucker on March 31, 1961, having graduated from San Angelo Central High School that same year. Kenneth and Joan built an exciting life in the oil and gas business. They had two children, Kevin K. Tucker, and Jason W.A. Tucker. Joan's home was always warm and inviting to her many friends and her beloved cats. Her friends valued her tenacity, intelligence, and loyalty, as well as her unending sense of humor. Joan was extremely creative and was interested in the arts all her life. She was a talented artist who expressed herself through photography, drawing, painting, and needlepoint, winning several awards at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. Her work was published in several reputable magazines. She enjoyed playing bridge. Joan married Richard E. Meyer, of San Antonio, Texas, on June 28, 2003. Together they enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Joan loved Richard and their time spent together. She embraced the larger family, considering Richard's two son's and their families as her own. She deeply enjoyed spending time with them. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Velah Motl, her son, Kevin, and her first husband, Kenneth. Joan is survived by her husband, as her son, his wife, Wendy Tucker, and granddaughter, Richard's sons, his wife, Carol, and their children, along with their five great-grandchildre. Funeral Services August 17, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, with burial at Fairmount Cemetery immediately following the service. from obituary at Johnson's Funeral Home.
