Benjamin Young Bonner and Zona Mae Mcbride were married on September 19, 1937 at First Baptist Church in Fairfield; Rev. Homer Tirey performed the ceremony. They honeymooned in Monterrey, Mexico. Mae, daughter of John McBride and Maggie Foy, was born August 19, 1909 and had a twin sister named Faye. During World War II, Joe F. Walton, Faye's husband, was in the service. Ben and Mae moved in with Faye to help her take care of their twins, John and Carolyn. Mae was an excellent cook and had worked at "The Dinner Bell" in Streetman and the "Rainbo Café" in Fairfield; in later years she worked with Ben at the drugstore. , She was a member and past matron of Fairfield Chapter No. 331, Order of the Eastern Star. Mae died January 13, 1990 and was buried in the Bonner Cemetery. from The Fairfield Recorder] Zona M. Bonner Funeral services were held recently in Fairfield for Zona Mae Bonner, 80, who died Saturday, Jan. 13, at Fairview Nursing Home in Fairfield. Mrs. Bonner was born Aug. 19, 1090, in Limestone county to Maggie Faye and John McBride. She was married 52 years to Ben Y. Bonner. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Capps Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bill Thomas officiating. A special memorial tribute was given by Carolyn Rosenbaum of San Marcos. Special music, "Because He Lives" and "How Great Thou Art," was provided by Leslie Freeman. Burial was at Bonner Cemetery in Freestone county. Pallbearers were Homer Paul Bonner of Streetman, Gary Lambert of Lancaster, C. W. Heath, Jr. of Huntsville, Utah; Richard Kennard of Tatum, and Marvin Lee Watson, Warren Awalt, Wilson Bonner and David Barnes, all of Fairfield. Honorary pallbearers were John Journey, Bradford Hayden, Wayne Donaldson, Dr. J. H. Keller, Jr. and Hugh Bonner, all of Fairfield; Ben Kruger of Athens and A. D. Hinzman of Gainesville. Mrs. Bonner is survived by her husband, Ben Y. Bonner; a sister, Faye Walton of Gainesville; three nephews and two nieces.
