The 13 August 1939 edition of the Janesville (Rock County, Wisconsin) Gazette carried the following obituary for Ernest E. Bullock: E.E. BULLOCK IS DEAD AT 77 RESIDENT OF JANESVILLE FOR 40 YEARS; CREAMERY OPERATOR AT ONE TIME Ernest Eugene Bullock, 77, a resident of Janesville many years and at one time connected with the Bullock Creamery Company, died at his home, 771 Logan Street, at 4 a.m. Sunday [11 August 1939]. A son of Hiram and Lucinda Hall Bullock, he was born May 20, 1862, in Eyota, Minnesota, and moved to Lima [Wisconsin] with his parents when six years old [in about 1868]. The family lived for some time with his grandfather, Levi Bullock, on land which the latter had received from the government. In 1883 Ernest Bullock married Ida J. Robertson of Winona, Minnesota, and they moved to South Dakota [then Dakota Territory] where he worked a section of land for a time. Ten years later [in 1893] the family returned to Lima and in 1898 came to Janesville, where Mr. Bullock become connected with the creamery. His wife died in 1915 at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Adelaide Smith, Oakland, California, while they were attending the world's fair there. On October 23, 1918, he married Carrie Gertrude [Van Slyke] Pack [sic; actually, Peck] of [Perry, Wyoming County] New York, who survives, with a son, Clarence E. Bullock, Galesburg, Illinois; the daughter, Mrs. Smith, Oakland, California, two grandchildren, Donald Bullock, Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Dorothy Whiteman, Los Gatos, California; two nieces, Misses Hazel and Marion Ormsbee; and two nephews, Loren and Glenn Ormsbee, all of Janesville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Whaley-Overton funeral home, Dr. John Law of the Methodist Church officiating. The body will then be sent to Oakland, California, for burial.
