Married May 7 1946 Smith Center, Smith, KS, Aleen Neely No apparent children ------------------------------------------- Hold Services for 'Syl' Papiernik, Well Known Ordite Was Native of Valley County; Had REA Position Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Sylvester Adrian 'Syl' Papiernik, well known Ordite who died suddenly early Saturday morning at his home. The Rev. R.E. Daughetee officiated at the services which were held from the Methodist church. Burial was in the Ord City cemetery. Sylvester Adrian was born Nov. 24, 1912, the youngest son of Jacob and Anna Papiernik, and passed away on Feb. 3 at his home in Ord. He was 38 years, 2 months and 10 days old. His early life was spent on a farm near Elyria. After graduation from Ord high school with the class of 1930, he passed the entry examination to the U S Naval Academy at Annapolis, but because of a heart condition was unable to attend that institution. He later farmed with his brother, Chester, until his brother entered the armed forces during World War II. After farming alone for four years, his health forced him to seek a less strenuous occupation. He then moved to Ord and went into business. In November, 1947, he was appointed public relations and right-of-way director for the REA office in Ord, a position he held until his death. On May 7, 1946, he was married to Aleen Neely of Tilden at Smith Center, Kansas. Interested in sports and outdoor life, he was Scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts at Elyria for a number of years. He was active in church affairs and was a member of the Ord Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Louis of Florence, Mo., and Steven and Chester of Ord; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Albers of Ord and Mrs. Helen Feuhrer of Grand Island and other relatives.
