Richard "Dick" James Verbsky 74, of Wausau, died August 5, 2016 from complications due to cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving wife Gladys and his family by his side. Dick was born on November 28, 1941, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, to Ed and Leona (Pliner) Verbsky. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1959, he served in the U.S. Army and finished his tour in France. After his army service, Dick worked for Nagle-Hart/FABCO Caterpillar as a gifted mechanic for many years, eventually becoming shop manager in Wausau, and finally retiring after nearly forty years in 2001. Dick found great joy in life. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed golf especially during his winters in Florida. He was a winemaker, gardener, and a talented woodworker. He loved a good steak, a cold beer, a good joke, and was well known for witty remarks. His greatest joys were time spent with Gladys, his children and grandchildren. Left to honour Dick and remember his love are his beloved wife of 20 years, Gladys Verbsky; his two brothers and one sister, Ed Verbsky, Don (Jeanne) Verbsky, and Donna (Jon) Wolf; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley (Mark) Lenard, and Ben Lenard; his daughter and three sons Anna Sagami, Rick (Lori) Verbsky, James (Esther) Verbsky, and John (Carla) Verbsky; two step children, Janice Klade and Len (Heidi) Bloom; grandchildren, Garet Sagami, Makayla Sagami, Ashley Ashmann, Megan Daemmrich, Kristin Floss, Amanda Verbsky, Andrew Verbsky, Christopher Verbsky, Isabella Verbsky, Sophia Verbsky, Michael Klade, Robert Klade, Erick Klade, and Kailyn Klade; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank the gracious and kind staff at the Marshfield Clinic, specifically Dr. Onitilo and Dr. Richetto, for their support. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Charles Hiebl will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Wausau Daily Herald Aug 7 2016
