Bio
Jo Jeanette Ummelmann Kurtz, 81, of Bastrop, formerly of Danevang, passed away August 5, 2016. She was born on September 22, 1934 in Shiner, Tx to the late Arnold and Joyce Stoeltje Ummelmann. Jo was a member of Sons of Hermann and worked as a baker at Prasek's before retiring. She also worked for many years at El Campo Memorial Hospital as a PBX operator. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Zotter of Selma and Joycelyn Schedler and husband Bruce of Bastrop; sons, Sherman Kurtz and wife Gina of Georgetown and Glenn Kurtz and wife Cristal of Fairfax, VA, Candace Cuencar and husband Eddie; great-grandchildren, Karissa Zotter, Emma, Sofia and Madelyn Cuencar; and sisters, Janet Vinklarek and Jeraldine Schulte and husband Allen. Jo was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 56 years, Alfonse Kurtz. Family will receive friends from 3 - 6 p.m. on Sunday , August 7 at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 8 at the funeral home with Rev. Rick DeBroc officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
