Tingley Vindicator Thursday, April 27, 1922 OBITUARY - MRS JOHN C LONG Mary Ann Clayton was born in Knox county, Ill., April 26, 1849, and died at her home in Beaconsfield, Ia., Friday, April 21, aged 72 years, 11 months and 21 days. Her father died when she was three years old. Her mother then moved to Knox County, Ohio, where she made her home with her aunt. The home circle was completed again, when her mother married Isaac Thompson. To them three children were born. In 186? she was married to John C Long and two years later they moved to Iowa. Five children were born to them, all of whom survive her, except one who died in infancy. In family life she performed well the duties of a mother. To the children who remain, though mother has passed away, yet she leaves a memory of having been a loving, Christian mother. She united with the church at an early age, and it was her desire to hold Jesus in high respect before the members of her family. When the mother to her grandchild died, leaving a three months old boy, it was this same motherly, Christian spirit which prompted her to make a home for her grandchild - Loron Long. Besides the husband, the following children survive her. W. E. Long of Fall River, Kan., Ed Long of Beaconsfield, Mrs. Nora Johnston of Tingley, and Orville E. Long of Beaconsfield. She also leave [sic] two brothers - J. B. Thompson of Van Wert; and one sister, Mrs. Olive Lantz of Van Wert. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Beaconsfield at 2 o'clock Sunday, April 23, by Rev.
