BRIGHTON, Colo. — Melvin Fred Larsen, 78, of Lochbuie died Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Avamere Rehabilitation Center in Brighton. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Bros. Mortuary Chapel in Broken Bow, Neb., with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will at Broken Bow Cemetery with military honors. He was born Aug. 25, 1937, near Ansley, Neb., to Eldon and Margaret Larsen. On Nov. 26, 1956, he married Viola M. Griffis in Sayre, Okla. Survivors include his wife; son, Melvin “Rusty”; daughter, Kathryn; brothers, DeWayne and Marvin; sisters, Norma Slavik and Marilyn Sue Walker; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. ---------------------------------- Melvin lived in Lochbuie, CO, and passed away at Avamere Rehab Center. He was born to Eldon and Margaret Larsen and married Viola Mae Griffis on November 26, 1956 at Sayre, OK. He drove truck for many years before moving to Denver. He was an avid rock hound and later in life, a master clock maker. Survivors beside Viola included: son Melvin (Rusty) and Erlinda; daughter Kathryn Larsen; brothers DeWayne (Nancy) and Marvin (Donna); sisters Norma Slavik and Marilyn Sue (Ben) Walker; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceding were son Donald and sister Hazel. Services held in Broken Bow. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, CO, handled arrangements.
