Moonglow, her Christian name given as Susannah Hamilton, was the wife of Revolutionary war soldier, Benjamin S Hamilton. Susannah was said to be of Native American descent, born abt 1775 in TN or NC. Some have given her surname of Hurst but it has not been proven. She died in 1846 in Moon, Morgan Co, KY, and her grave is in the Moon ~ Hamilton Cemetery, as it is commonly called, in Moon, Kentucky. She rests beside her husband, Benjamin, who followed her in death in 1849. It is said the town of Moon, Ky was named after her. "REST IN PEACE GRANDMOTHER, YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN" Her known children were: John Hamilton m: Mary Polly May Sarah Elizabeth Hamilton m: Edward P Hill Nancy Hamilton m: Joseph C Hannah Mary Polly Hamilton m: James Hannah Esther Hettie Hamilton m: William Ison Elizabeth Hamilton m: Jesse Oldfield David K Hamilton m: Drucilla Hill Benjamin S Hamilton m: Elizabeth Betsy Nickell Amelia Ann Hamilton m: Isaac Ison Martha Jane Hamilton m: Ebenezer Hannah ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Moon-Hamilton Cemetery is a along a creek behind the former old Moon Post Office, which now appears to be a private residence, on route 172. (GPS: 37°58'25.3"N 83°02'48.8"W) There is a lane leading to the cemetery on the left side of this house. You will have to cross a small creek. We waded across so bring boots. After crossing the creek, the grassy trail to the cemetery goes to the left. Watch for snakes and ticks. Also note, Susannah and Benjamin's graves are NOT up the hill behind the old log cabin, which is a good way down the road from the grave yard.
