Bio

Bud Kummer, 84 of Fargo, North Dakota passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Sanford Health in Fargo. M.J. "Bud" Kummer was born April 15, 1932 to Jacob and Martha (Garman) Kummer at Anamoose, North Dakota. He graduated from Anamoose High School and attended one year of classes at Minot Teacher's College. On February 24, 1951 he married Marlene Johns at Sidney, Montana. Bud lived most of his life in North Dakota, living briefly a few times in Minnesota and ten years in Galesburg, Illinois. He worked in the Civil Engineering and Track Maintenance Departments for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads from 1951 until retiring in 1992. He especially enjoyed spending the winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was currently living at Edgewood Vista in Fargo and was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in West Fargo. He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Fargo, ND; one daughter, Marlene (Jonathan) Engel of Bismarck, ND; three sons, Mark (Karla) of Fargo, ND, Steven (Anne) of Medford, OR and Todd (Jodi) of Aurora, IL; one sister, Patricia (Charles) Brown of Great Falls, MT; one brother, James Kummer of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Burnell and Bruce; sisters, Pauline Odenbach, Pearl Bjornson, Shirlene Hollikim, Sandra Kummer and Norma Schrader. source: adapted from obituary at West Funeral Home
