Fred A. Greener Jr., 86, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016, after an 11-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: noon in Azleland Memorial Park, 850 N Cardinal Road. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet. Fred was a devoted family man and friend, admired by all for his Christian values and work ethic. Born to Fred and Madeline Greener on July 16, 1930, in Fort Worth, he married Janet Clayton on Dec. 28, 1951. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Navy for four years, and his family soon expanded by two daughters. Jan and Jill completed the closeknit family that enjoyed camping and competing in equine activities. Fred was a participating member of several rodeo associations and the Aztex Saddle Club. Fred was a loving father, grandfather and sideline cheerleader for any activity his family desired. Unsurprisingly that family unity continued with all three grandsons whom he delighted in watching grow under his always watchful eyes. Forever the mentor, he made sure to instill his values to all family members. No one was safe from his direction. He was very proud of his family and valued each moment spent with them. As owner of the Fred Greener Plumbing Company and with both daughters attending schools in the Azle district, he was known and admired throughout the Azle community. Fred was quiet but had very kind, loving and smiling eyes and was always ready to come to the rescue for any family or friends. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2005, he was cared for by Janet in their home for nine years and then became a resident of Azle Manor in 2014. The family will be forever grateful for the wonderful, loving care the staff provided, and also for the support for our family. Cherishing our memories are wife, Janet C. Greener; daughters, Jan Davis, Jill Harbour and husband, Mike; grandsons, Jeff Davis and wife, Meredith, Justin Davis, Clay Collins and wife, Kristine; and great-grandchildren, Hallie Collins and Deak Davis.
