Bio

Robert served in the US Army during World War II. Robert married Eileen M. Fujan on April 21, 1952 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, Nebraska. Robert and Eileen are the parents of Carol, Mary Kay, Mick, Kathy & Robert. Robert "Bob" W. Shanahan, 91, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.. He was born April 24, 1925 in Prague, NE to Thomas and Otillia (Ladenburger) Shanahan. Bob graduated from Malmo High School in 1942. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII until he was honorably discharged. On April 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Eileen Fujan at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE. Bob was a lifelong farmer, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved Polka music and dancing. He was an avid Husker fan and always enjoyed telling stories. His hobbies included fast pitch softball in his early years, golfing and pitch playing in his later years. Bob was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Weston American Legion, and past member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE. He is survived by children, Carol (Robert) Slabaugh of Omaha, Mary Kay (Nicholas) Dimas of Wahoo, Mick (Marcia) Shanahan of Elkhorn, Kathy (Clark) Rasmussen of Grand Island, Robert (Carey) Shanahan of Wahoo; grandchildren, Molly and Mitchell Murphy, Andy and Danielle Shanahan, Brenna and Bria Rasmussen, Tricia, Schyler, and Trey Shanahan; great-grandsons, Landon and Tate Shanahan; sisters: Lorene Stuchlik of Weston and Pat (Kenneth) Tvrdy of Valparaiso; brothers: Marvin (Lori) Shanahan of Valparaiso and Francis "Fuzz" (Mary) Shanahan of Denton, NE; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Eileen M. Shanahan; parents Thomas and Otilla Shanahan; brothers: Thomas and Leo Shanahan; sister Betty Roh.
