George Dworak Services Tuesday George J. Dworak was born April 12, 1928 at Ord, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary Zikmund Dworak and died August 9, 1986 at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 58. George attended school in Ord and was graduated from Ord High School in 1946. He was married to Gail Hall on June 21, 1946 at Marysville, Kansas and they made their home in Ord. George managed a meat and grocery store and a hotel, all in Ord. He was elected Valley County Assessor in 1959 and was re-elected in 1962. He joined the tax commissioner's staff in 1963 and was a field man for the grain and seed tax. He was named assistant tax commissioner in 1964 and was appointed state tax commissioner later that year. He became state energy director in 1973 when the energy office was under the Revenue Department. He left that post in 1979. He had been head of the property tax division of the State Revenue Department for the past 3 ½ years. George was a member of the Elks Lodge and Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, Gail; two sons, Tom of Ord and Dick of Lincoln; one daughter, Kathy Dickman of Maxwell; six grandchildren; one brother, Ed of Ord; four sisters, Alive Naprstek, Alma Cetak, and Irene Cetak all of Ord; and Evelyn Hackett of Spring, TX.
