Pastor Darrell Holzinger will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. Leonard Ray was born Nov. 12, 1936, to Joseph and Francis (Hlavinka) Holzinger on a farm northeast of Ord. He was raised on the farm and received his education at Plain Valley Country School. On Aug. 20, 1958, Leonard was united in marriage to Eleanore Rice at St. Paul. Leonard helped his father on the farm until he went to work at the Philips 66 Station in Ord. He farmed for Stan Johnson before going to work at the Ord Cheese Factory in 1961. In 1967, Leonard had his own milk route. In 1969, the couple moved to Loup City and Leonard worked at the 66 Station and later at Leonard Equipment. In 1981, they moved to Kearney, where he was employed at Kearney Implement and then began working at Kearney State College (now the University of Nebraska at Kearney) managing the fleet of vehicles. They moved to Litchfield in 1995 and Leonard retired from UNK in 2002. He returned to work at Howard Hay Company in Litchfield until he fully retired in June 2012. The couple has made their home in Grand Island since 2013. Leonard enjoyed gardening, and playing cards and games. He was a rodeo fan and enjoyed going to concerts, especially bluegrass concerts. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Annette Holzinger of Grand Island; two grandchildren and their spouses, Darren and Jessica Holzinger and Jamie and Teddy Driewer, all of Grand Island; two great-grandchildren, Colin and Spencer Driewer; a brother, Leland Holzinger of Lincoln; and a host of relatives and friends.
