Bio

Buck was a Life Member of Live Oak County VFW Post 6119. Obit from The Progress James William “Buck” Gregory was born November 29, 1931, in rural Live Oak County, Texas to Earl and Dora Gregory. He passed away July 4, 2016, at the age of 84. Buck is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lynda Carlson Gregory; his sons, Russell Gregory and wife, Brenda of Pflugerville, Texas, Chuck Gregory and wife, Maricia of Fair Oaks, Texas, Danny Gregory of Three Rivers, Texas and Rodney Gregory and wife, Lisa of Pearland, Texas; eight grandchildren, Amber Shand and husband, David, Chase Gregory and wife, Savannah, David Gregory, Alicia Gregory, Tessa Gregory, Will Gregory, Madeline Gregory and Addison Gregory; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Gregory, Rylee Gregory, Brody Shand and Bostyn Shand; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dora; his four sisters, Lillian Mills, Edna Doebbler, Gladys Dusek and Edith Brockway; and one great-grandson, Tysen Shand. Buck lived in Three Rivers and the surrounding Live Oak County area all of his life. He worked many years for Mobil Oil and Diamond Shamrock before retiring in 1996 due to health issues. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Three Rivers First United Methodist Church that he loved very much. Buck was also a member the Evergreen Masonic Lodge #325. He loved to bar-b-que, work in his yard, go camping, spend time with family and friends and watch his beloved Three Rivers Bulldogs and Dallas Cowboys play football. Buck enjoyed watching old Westerns, watching “Family Feud” and playing spinner dominoes with his friends at the Senior Citizens Center. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend to many and a true and loyal follower of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to God! Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Adrienne Zermeno officiating. Interment will follow in Three Rivers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Addison Gregory, Chase Gregory, Ryan Gregory, Will Gregory, David Shand, Tim Stroleny, Scott Newport and Tim Jambers.
