Bio

Larry Beckman, 72, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, Nebraska. He was born on December 15, 1943, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of William and Johanna (Starman) Beckman. Larry graduated from St. Boniface in Elgin, Nebraska in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1964 at St. Andre, France, as a military policeman. On September 6, 1965, Larry married Judy Werner at Holy Family Church in Lindsay. They lived in Omaha until 1967, when they moved to Lindsay. He was self-employed, owning his own company, Beckman Trenching, from 1971 to 2015. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. Larry was very active as a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion in Lindsay, the VFW, as a Boy Scout leader, a Lindsay volunteer fireman and on the Lindsay village board. He also loved to ride motorcycles with his spouse, loved camping and being with family. Larry is survived by: his three children and spouses, Cheryl (Steve) Petroski, Terry (Sue) Beckman, and Denise (Pat) Brockhaus; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Morris (Dorothy) Beckman, Lyle (Carol) Beckman, PHillip (Ena) Beckman, and Martin Beckman; sisters, Joan (Wayne) Pollock and Joyce Anderson. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Judy; and four brothers, one in infancy. Obituary information from the Norfolk Daily News.
