OBITUARY: Pocahontas Record Democrat, Pocahontas, Iowa, Wednesday, April 22nd, 1998, pg. 4 Bernard "Ben" J. Cremers Bernard "Ben" Cremers, 82, Pocahontas, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at his home in Pocahontas. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Pocahontas, with Frs. Clair Base and Eugene Ceperly officiating. Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery, Pocahontas. Survivors include his sons, Bernie (Cherie) Cremers, Iowa City, Gerry (Carol) Cremers, Novato, CA, Dale (Judy) Cremers, Des Moines, Alan (Peggy) Cremers, Redwood City, CA and Donald Cremers, San Francisco, CA; daughters Corrine (James) McKnight, Dawson, PA, Linda (David) Bixby, Omaha, NE and Lois (Doug) Olson, San Diego, CA, 18 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a sister, Sister Mary Doris (Cremers), Manitowoc, WI. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Louise, and his three sisters and three brothers. Bernard "Ben " Joseph Cremers was born October 10, 1915, at Lindsay, NE. He was the son of Theodore and Catherine (Schad) Cremers. He attended Holy Family School in Lindsay. On September 10, 1940, Ben married Louise Braun at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed near Lindsay and Richland, NE, before settling near Albert (?) in 1944. In 1984, they retired and moved to Pocahontas. Louise passed away in 1996. Ben was a member of the St. Joseph Parish in Sioux Rapids . In Pocahontas he was an active member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Ben enjoyed playing cards with Louise, their family and many friends as well as gardening in his yard and throughout the community. He particularly enjoyed sharing his abundant produce with his neighbors and friends. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend. Transcribed by Teresa Davis
