Charles F. Shontz, 64, of 113 State Street, Kistler, died Tuesday, October 6, 1964 at 6:15 a.m. in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon where he ha been a patient since September 24, 1964. He had been in failing health for five years. Born September 11, 1900 in Yeagertown, he was a son of Jonas and Bertha (Walker) Shontz. On September 25, 1925 in Hagerstown, Md., he was married to Ida Snow, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Mrs. Leslie Shoop of Mapleton; three sons, Charles R. Shontz of Mount Union, R.D.; and Robert C. and Larry L. Shontz of Mount Union; three brothers, William Shontz of Lewistown; Walter Shontz of Reedsville and Fred Shontz of Belleville and four grandchildren. Mr. Shontz was a member of the Yeagertown Methodist Church. His last employment was as a mechanic for the Garner Chevrolet Company of Mount Union, R.D. He and his wife had resided in Kistler for the past 33 years. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Donald Matthews on Friday, October 9 at 2 p.m., from the Clark funeral home in Mount Union with interment in the Haven Rest Memorial Cemetery, Mount Union, R.D.
