On November 18, 1934 Esteen was baptized by Pastor E.F. Moerbe. He was confirmed by Paster Louis O Hemmann on May 16, 1948 and given the confirmation verse "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". (John 3:16). He was drafted into the Army on May 7, 1957 with classification of Private First Class and titled as a Marksman of the A-1 Rifle upon his discharge. He married Hallye Marie Johnson on November 14, 1959, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aleman with the Reverend Ad H Hoyer officiating. He and Hallye were married 55 years upon her death. They were blessed with four children. They moved to the Brazosport area in 1962 making their home there until 1997 returning to Hamilton for their retirement years. He was very mechanically inclined and boasted many times he could fix anything, even a broken heart. He worked in many capacities: mainly welding, pipe fitting, and as a boiler maker in the Brazosport area. He was a faithful Lutheran his whole life being a trustee at St Paul, Aleman and also at St. Mark Lutheran, Lake Jackson his family's home church. While in the Brazosport area Esteen helped organize and serve in the Clute Cub Scouts and the Clute Little League. He was a charter member of the Clute Optimist Club which was instrumental in the park improvements including fundraising events for the Olympic size swimming pool that was built in 1976 and still enjoyed today. Upon his return to Hamilton he served as Officer of the American Legion in Priddy, TX. Esteen has been described in the various clubs in which he belonged as a one-man hospitality committee and within the Church as a one-man Evangelism team. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in those blue eyes. Esteen was a fun-loving man, and always said he wanted the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders for pall bearers. He is survived by his children, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. (from obituary at Riley Funeral Home)
