VALPARAISO VISITOR--The remains of the late Technician, Fifth Grade, Joe V. Navratil were returned from Cambridge, England, to a final resting place in Loma. Military funeral services were held Monday July 19th, with a high requiem Mass at 9:00 o'clock, from St Luke's Church at Loma, with Rev Frank Lublinger officiating. Joe V. the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alois Navratil, was born on a farm near Loma, May 24, 1919. He attended Loma school and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He graduated from David City High School, after which he played in an orchestra for several years and taught at the Butler County schools for four years. On June 22, 1942 he was married in Valparaiso to Theresa Serci, and entered the Army on July 13, 1942. He then went overseas December 7, 1943 with a detachment of the AAA, AW, 447th Bn., as an office clerk. On Feb 16, 1944 in Grimsby, England he met his accidental death. His wife Theresa and son Larry survive him as do his parents, three brothers Ernest, Milo, and Edmund, two sisters, Margaret Kriz and Mary Bartek.
