The Topeka Capital-Journal Topeka, Kansas Wednesday, June 25, 2003 Mr Elmer Sowell, 73 of Topeka Elmer Sowell, 73, Topeka, died April 11, 2003, at his home. He was born June 27, 1929, in Corsicana, Texas, to Moria and Josie Frankie Brock Sowell. He lived in Texas until 1991 and had worked for Tyler Pipe in Tyler, Texas, for more than 20 years. He served several years in the Army and was stationed in Japan. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Sowell was a member of Post No. 7211 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tyler, Texas. He married Bonnie Watson on August 3, 1954, in Tyler, Texas. They divorced but she remained his companion. She survives. Mr. Sowell was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Sowell, died in January 1994. Survivors include three sons; a daughter; three brothers; a sister; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Sowell was cremated. Inurnment services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Topeka Cemetery Garden Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care; 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, 66606.
