Bio

Amy Darlynn Arens (Bishop) died April 28, 2016 at Hospice of Northern Colorado Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1921 in Callaway, NE to Issac Willard and Nina Grace Bishop. Amy was the oldest of 5 children. In 1934 the Bishop family lost their farm due to the combination of the Depression and the drought. Other family members had found work at the mines in Central City, CO. So, the family moved, along with their dairy cows, to land above the town of Central City where they proceeded to produce milk that Amy and her sister Margaret delivered to customers by horse and buggy and in later years by car. Amy attended school in Central City. In 1943 the effects of WWII caused the price of milk to drop so the family was once again force to move. A property in Lafayette, CO, offered the opportunity to increase their dairy herd and raise sheep along with farming. Amy married Frances G. Arens on July 4, 1946. She moved to La Salle where they had a dairy and agriculture farm. Three children were born of this union, Sharon (John) Keyser, Greeley, Lila (Jim) Cooper, Colorado Springs, and Grant (Rena) Arens, La Salle. Amy has five grandchildren, Lauren (Dana) Keyser, Jennifer (Craig) McRae, Amy Cooper, Elizabeth Cooper and Miranda Arens; two great-grandchildren, Cameron McRae and Elisabeth McRae. She is also survived by her brother Paul (Grace) Bishop, Craig, CO; sisters in law Grace Moser, Hudson, CO, and Lila Bishop, Newel, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband Frances Arens in 2003; her parents; and siblings Margaret (Jim) Schreider, Grace (Earnest) Harer, and Donald (Lila) Bishop. Amy enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, sewing, gardening, quilting, embroidery, and crocheting. She was fortunate to have been able to live in her home in La Salle with the help of her children. She will be greatly missed. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel with a reception in the Allnutt Reception Center. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
