Bio

Fannie was the daughter of John Brown and Miss Johnson. She married Joseph C. Melton in May of 1885. He preceded her in death in 1916. They had 9 children. 2 sons and 3 daughters preceded her in death. She was a resident of Union Co., NM since 1885. She owned a half-way house between Hooker and Trinidad, CO. She lost most of her herd in the blackleg epidemic in 1899. After that she moved to Clayton where she had several businesses. She is survived by 4 sons: W.C., Alta, CA; Albert, Clayton, NM; F.J., Little Rock, AR; Ben J., Clovis, NM; and by her brother and sister. Her son, William Chandler Melton - born 8-14-1890 - 6-1-1976 in Place, Calif.
