Edith Ellen Cummins Byington, wife of Simon, is buried in Ulan Cemetery. By her lies her long-time household helper Amanda Self. (From a Find A Grave visitor) She had a daughter, Mrs. James Wadley. _____________________ Funeral services for Mrs. Edith E. Byington, 82, of Indianola, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mills-Humphrey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Adams of Eufaula officiating. Assisting will be Rev. Dee Skaggs and Rev. Woodrow Cain. Burial will be in Ulan Cemetery. Mrs. Byington was born Oct. 4, 1888 in Sugar Cane, Ark., and she died Friday in a Tahlequah hospital. She came to this area in 1900 and had resided in the Scipio, Ulan and Indianola area since that time. She was married to Simon Byington in 1911 in Scipio. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1919. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Merle) Wadley, 1004 E. Miami; two sons, Dave Byington, Hurley, N.M., and Ralph Byington, Eufaula; one sister, Mrs. Ella Mitchell of Oklahoma City; a granddaughter, Jonette Dunlap, Annondale, Va.; three grandsons, Mike Byington, Hurley, Ross Wade Byington, Eufaula, and James David Wadley, McAlester; one great-granddaughter, Stacey Jo Dunlap, Annondale; and several nieces and nephews, including Roy Long of McAlester. Active pallbearers will be Ross Wade Byington, James David Wadley, Bill Allford, Cecil Martin, Clinton Stark and Earl Jensen. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Cox, Clyde Stark, Charlie Vaughn, Roy Ragan, Jess Blevins, Bill Blevins, Ralph Smalley, Bob Smith, Elmer Bynum and Tux Bowen.
