Bio

Elvera A. Vrba, 82, of Tours, passed away in an Itasca nursing home on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006. Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Elvera was born in West, Texas, to the late Louis and Clara (Damhuse) Glomb. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church at Tours and had worked as a nurse's aide at West Community Hospital from 1972 to 1986. She married Ernest Vrba on Jan. 21, 1947, in Tours. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, on Feb. 10, 1985; and a son, Tim Vrba, on May 11, 1991. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Smith and husband, David, of Angelton, and Yvonne Paice and husband, Robert, of Sparta, Tenn.; son, Larry Vrba, of West; daughter-in-law, Diana Vrba, of Houston; brother, Norbert Glomb, of Ark.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
