Bio
Cyndie Straten, age 67, of West, passed away early Friday afternoon, May 27, 2016 at her residence. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Will Straten officiating. Cyndie was born October 23, 1948 in Vinita, OK, the daughter of the late James and Doris (Gurley) Nading. She was a 1967 graduate of Richfield High School in Waco. Cyndie was a homemaker and Mother. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. Cyndie was also a member of the VFW Post #4819 Ladies Auxiliary and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Waco. She enjoyed scrapbooking, painting, arts and crafts, camping, hosting Westfest family gatherings, and playing dominoes. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Reynold Straten of West; a daughter, Leanne Slayton and husband Doyle of Little Elm; step children, Randal Straten and wife Ladell of West, Kevin Straten and wife Connie of Kosse, Rick Straten and wife Becky of Aquilla and Tammy Shinn of Hickory, NC; brothers, Billy Nading and wife Valari and Robert Nading; grandchildren, Brooke, Avery, Paige and Cole; many step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
