Charles Pistor, Jr. Dallas Morning News, The (TX) — Saturday, July 21, 2012 Dallas, Tx Pistor, Jr., Charles H. Charles Pistor, extraordinary family man, business man and civic leader, died Wednesday, July 18, surrounded by his family. Charles was a man of immense integrity, respect, dignity, vision, generosity and faith. A seeker of knowledge, Charles held degrees from The University of Texas, Harvard Business School,and SMU. Beginning in 1956 at Republic National Bank of Dallas, his banking career spanned 34 years and included serving as president of The American Bankers Association. He was honored by Financial World as one of the distinguished CEOs in banking in the United States. Charles served SMU in numerous capacities, including a member of the Board of Trustees and as vice chair of the University. He was honored as a distinguished alumnus at SMU and Highland Park High School. An active member and elder of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Pistor also served as president of the Dallas Summer Musicals and as vice chair of the United Way. He served as a trustee or board member of multiple organizations and corporations including Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Dallas Heritage Society, Dallas Summer Musicals, Baylor Foundation, St. Paul Hospital, Salvation Army, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Citizens Council, Metropolitan YMCA, North Texas Commission, Dallas Assembly, International Monetary Conference, Association of Reserve City Bankers, Meadows Foundation, Southwestern Medical School Foundation, Southwest Graduate School of Banking Foundation, AMR/American Airlines, Centex, Fortune Brands, Oryx Energy, Zale Corporation and Commercial Metals. Charles' life was rich and active as he enjoyed tennis, hunting, fishing, walking with his Labradors, traveling, and playing with his grandchildren. They particularly enjoyed their log cabin in New Mexico's Pecos Wilderness, which they shared graciously with many family members and friends. For Charles, nothing was more important than his deep faith in Christ, his family, and his friends. The grief our community feels in losing him is tempered by our thankfulness for his good and giving life. His memory and legacies are held fast by his wife of sixty years, Regina; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori Pistor and Terry Allebaugh of Durham, NC; his son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Cheri Pistor of Monument, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Elise Pistor of Colleyville, TX and the array of greatly adored grandchildren: Matt and his wife, Catherine, Blake and Scott; Austin, Jeffrey and Alexandra. Charles deeply cherished his friendships that spanned decades, miles, and generations. Charles will be deeply missed by his family and friends, yet they rejoice in the faith by which he lived and take comfort knowing that he is now in the presence of God through faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest on Saturday, July 21, 4:00-6:00 p.m. A worship service to celebrate Charles' Life and bear Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Sunday, July 22, 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception in Elliott Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Dallas Heritage Village, The Dallas Summer Musicals, or Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
