Ruth H. Joyce, 93 years of age, of Wilber, Nebraska, formerly of De Witt, Nebraska, passed away at the Wilber Care Center Sunday evening, January 25, 2015. She was born on September 24, 1921, at Swanton, Nebraska, to Oscar and Stella (Wolfe) Walker, was a 1939 graduate of De Witt High School, and lived in the De Witt area most of her life. Ruth married Keith L. Joyce on January 27, 1940, in Marysville, Kansas. She was a member of the De Witt United Methodist Church and had served as a Communion Steward. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles, and crocheting. Ruth especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren while they were growing up, and was a Husker fan. Survivors include 2 daughters Lynda Roesler of Beatrice, Nebraska, and Jolene Schroeder and husband Matt of De Witt; son Melvin Joyce and wife Lois of Lincoln, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren Marshall Roesler and wife Jamie, Aaron Roesler, Jacob Roesler and wife Natalie, Nicholas Joyce and wife JC, Holly Joyce, Jessica Castillo and husband Enrique, Ashley Nelson and husband Michael, Jordan Rahe, and Brennan Schroeder; 10 great grandchildren; daughter in law Tammy Joyce Ritchie and husband Stephen of Smithland, Iowa; and sisters in law Ruth Stevens and Joy Hsaio, both of Beatrice. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Stella (Wolfe) Walker, husband Keith Joyce (1999), son Donald Joyce (1996), 1 great grandchild, and 8 brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in De Witt with Reverend Lila Bottolfsen officiating. The body will lie in state from 4-9:00 Tuesday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, with a prayer service starting at 6:30 and the family greeting friends and family until 8:00. A memorial has been established to the De Witt United Methodist Church and the Wilber Care Center with the funeral home in charge. Sign Ruth’s online guest book at www.ghchapel.com.
