Bio

Mary "Mollie" Ellen (Jones) Hughes was the daughter of Simeon H. Jones and Susannah Tribble Stewart. Her daughter Una (Hughes) Kendall gave Birmingham, Alabama as her mother's birthplace, but if Mary wasn't born in or near Stewart Town or Rising Fawn, Dade County, Georgia, she was almost certainly born just over the state line in Dekalb County, Alabama. Mary's parents died when she was a very young girl and she and her older sister Margaret and younger brother Clifton were taken in by relatives and neighbors. Mary was the wife of William Taylor Hughes and they had three daughters; Ona B. 1891, Una T./H. 1895, and Ina S. 1897, and one son, Herald H. 1902/03.
