Bio
Lorraine Ann Kippes, 91, Topeka, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at a Topeka hospital. She was born May 31, 1909, in Buckman, Mlnn., the daughter of Joseph and Martha Otremba Hortsch. She lived many years in the Bethel community northwest of Topeka. Mrs. Kippes was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Bethel Community Club, Goodyear Retirees Club and Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle No. 503. She married William F. Kippes on May 6, 1930, in Shaw, Ore. He preceded her in death July 2, 1996. A son, Larry Kippes, preceded her in death in 1940. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Wilma Jean Kippes, in 1949, and Norma White, in March 1997. Survivors Include four sons, Arlin Kippes, in Florida, Leroy Kippes, East Moline, Ill., Glenn Kippes, Tucson, Ariz., and Harvey Kippes, Topeka; four daughters, Leota York, Grants Pass, Ore., Sara LaRock, in California, and Linda Bush and Sondra Lowe, both of Topeka; 24 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Kippes will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Name Catholic Church Building Topeka Capital-Journal, 7/5/2000 -------------------------- Sister of Regina Ann Dehler; Mary Catherine Davis; Edward Hugo Hortsch; Martha Faulhaber; Joseph Paul Hortsch and 5 others
