Bio

William F. "Bill" Hejny, 79, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016, at J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016, in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum. Bill was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Joe B. and Stacie (Trojacek) Hejny. He was raised in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1954. On October 9, 1957, he married Marie E. Taraba and they made their home in Ennis. He served with the United States Marine Corp Reserves for eight years. Bill began working as a residential plumber in Ennis with Edwin Trojacek. He then worked with his brother-in-law, George Taraba, as a Master Plumber for Northwest Highway Plumbing in Dallas, Texas, for over 25 years. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, SPJST, SOKOL, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. After retiring in 1999, Bill served as a Eucharistic Minister and assisted with funerals at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Bill also served as an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 203 at St. John's when his children were in junior high and high school. He enjoyed reading, Czech music, dancing, traveling with Marie, and fishing. His family was the light of his life, and he was a wonderful father and grandfather. He taught his sons to be respectful men and to value life and family. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, James and Danny. Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Marie Hejny; sons: Jeff Hejny and wife, Kathleen, Michael Hejny and wife, Sandra, and Scott Hejny and wife, Julie; grandchildren: Lauren, Thomas, Dorian, Tristan, Tanyon, Doremi, and Madison; great-grandson, Charles Patrick Hanson; brother, Don Hejny and wife, Margaret; nephew, Barton; and niece, Ana.
