Bio
Edgar "Ed" Delbert Collins, 80, of Hallsville passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Albert officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Ed was born February 8, 1926 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Chauncy Dell and Isabell Miller Collins. He married Cheryl Jackson who preceded him in death. He later married Margaret George on February 14, 1986 and she survives. He served in the National Guard for twelve years and worked for Brown Shoe Store for twenty years in Ottumwa before moving to Missouri. Ed was a member of the Hallsville Baptist Church. He retired from the University Hospital in 1988. Ed enjoyed volunteering many hours at the Senior Center on Vandiver Drive. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Sherri Bloom, of Auxvasse, Mo., Debbie Collins Williams, of Columbia; five granddaughters; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Simms, of Bensonville, Ill., Florence Westerfield, of Louisville, Ky.; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the extended families of Jerry George, of Hallsville, Joyce Bogart, of Phoenix, Ariz., seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; five great-grandchildren; one infant son.
