Mildred V. Manchester, 96, of Ord passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Trever Rook will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mildred Victoria was born August 2, 1919, at North Loup, Nebraska to Roy and Edna (Hansen) McGee. She was raised in the Davis Creek area where she attended country school and graduated from North Loup High School in 1937. On January 16, 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to Leonard Manchester at Broken Bow, Nebraska. The couple resided on a farm in Sherman County until moving to a farm near North Loup in 1954. In 1958, they moved into Ord. Mildred worked at the Ord Sale Barn, Ord Public School in the lunch room and the Grand Island Ammunition Plant. She was a member of the Ord First United Methodist Church, UMW; and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed listening to Bohemian music. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dennis Hurlbert of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Susan Manchester of North Loup; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Pillsbury and Esther Koops both of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; and a sister, JoAnn McGee.
