The memorial service for Darlene M. Ayars, 72, of Kirbyville, Texas, formerly of Fremont, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel at Fremont. She died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Jasper Hospital at Jasper, Texas. Darlene Severyn was born Aug. 5, 1930, at Colon. She grew up at Colon and then lived at Fremont and Ames until moving to Texas eight years ago. She previously worked at the former Swan's Bar and Liquor Store at Fremont. She married Clarence Ayars July 19, 1968, at Yankton, S.D. He died March 11, 2001. Survivors include: a daughter, Connie Dobberstine of Fremont; three sons, Fred (and wife, Candi) Baltz of Des Moines, Iowa, William "Bill" Ayars of Bedford, Texas and Richard (and wife, Joyce) Baltz of Omaha; a brother, Jack (and wife, Carol) Severyn of Platte Center; three sisters, JoAnn Novotny of Valparaiso, Donna (Mrs. Don) Maly of Wahoo and Carol (Mrs. LeRoy) Hass of Fremont; a brother-in-law, Dick (and wife, Bonnie) Ayars of Mena, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Roberta Nassar of Fremont; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and a sister. The Rev. John Fairweather of First Christian Church at Fremont will officiate Wednesday's service. There is no visitation. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Published by Fremont Tribune on Feb. 22, 2003.
