Stephen Cordell was the son of Jesse Caudill and Susan Crain and grandson of James Caudill, Jr. and Mary Adams Caudill. He married Catherine Charlotte Patterson, daughter of John Patterson and Charlotte Caudill, on October 10, 1822 in Jackson Co., Georgia.
