Wilma Faye Becker August 26, 1933 - April 19, 2016 Wilma Faye (Woods) Becker, age 82, of Austin, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eugene (Gene) Herman Becker; son, Darrell Craig Becker (Jeanette) of Austin, and daughter, Cheryl Denise Finney (Bracken) of Taylor. Wilma is also survived by a sister, Maxine Mayes (Carl) of Boerne and a brother, Edwin Woods (Linda) of Porter; grandchildren, April Rodgers (Ben) of Austin, Amber Becker of Minnesota, and Lauren and Kaitlyn Finney of Taylor; great grandchildren, Wade and Jacob Becker of Minnesota, and twins, Emma and Aidan Rodgers of Austin, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents Mann R. and Ethel (Davis) Woods, by brothers Charles and Hugh Woods; by sisters, Ruth Hereford and Esther Eloise Woods, and niece, Michelle Pelot. She graduated from Seguin High School and and attended business college in Austin. On January 23, 1954 she married Gene while he was on leave from the Air Force. Wilma worked 40 years as a statistician for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. She also served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Greater Federal Texas Credit Union. Wilma was an avid supporter of all Texas A & M sports teams, both men's and women's. While still in good health she enjoyed almost-annual trips to Branson with Gene. She delighted in her collection of owl figurines, most of which were gifts from her children, grandchildren, and other loved ones. She had a generous, giving spirit. She never forgot the birthdays and other special celebrations of her family and friends, always searching for the perfect card and gift for the occasion. For the 40 years of her career, and beyond, Wilma kept a standing weekly appointment with her hair stylist and dear friend, Nancy Richter. That "date" was always a highlight of her week. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers of both the South Austin Medical Center during her multiple stays and Gentiva Hospice during her last days at home. Visitation will be held at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 22. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 PM at the Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas, with internment to follow in the Taylor City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society . Arrangements under the direction of Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, TX.
