Son of William Harris of Morgan County, Ohio and Mary Inman of Ohio. Husband of Sarah Minnick of Hancock County, Ohio; married on 18 September 1866 in Prairie Du Chien, Crawford County, Wisconsin. Enlisted in 1861 in Company K, 1st Iowa Cavalry of the Union Army.
