Services for J.D. Biggs, 78 of Ben Wheeler, Canton Co., TX were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, TX with Rev. Jerry Truett, Rev. Carlton Young and Don Dickerson officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton, TX. Mr. Biggs died February 14, 2004, at his residence in Ben Wheeler. He was born July 15, 1925, in Anson, TX to the late Dan L. and Effie King Biggs. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ben Wheeler, where he served as a teacher for the Men's Sunday School Class. He grew up in the Anson area. He served in the Navy during World War II at which time the Navy said he needed a name...not just initials so he was Joe Dan Biggs at that time. J. D. was a farmer almost all of his life. He farmed in Texas and in Idaho. He returned to Texas around 1976 and worked in bull dozer construction. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Donnie J. and Timothy Ray Biggs; brother, Clyde Biggs; and sister, Ruby Lee Harris. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Wilma Joy Wood Biggs, Ben Wheeler; daughters, Judy McMillan, Flint, Diane Langham, North Richland Hills, and Millie Langham, Haltom City; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandcvhildren; brothers, John Wayne Biggs, Lillian, and Dan L. Biggs Jr., Alvarado; and sisters, Hazel Rhodes, Alvarado, and Maudie Belle Starritt, North Carolina. Pall bearers included Scott Schiewe. Jerimy Schiewe, Cory Moreno, Mike Felker, Scott Seibold and Chris Alt. Honorary pallbearers were members of the First Baptist Church, Ben Wheeler, Men's Sunday School Class. -
