Bio

Grew up on the family farm near Petersburg, Nebraska. Married Lola Thiessen on Oct. 31, 1931, in Omaha. They owned and operated a cafe in Ewing, before moving to Grand Island in 1941. During World War II, he worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. Later he and his wife owned and operated the Tip Top Restaurant at Five Points. Later he worked for the Halle Construction company. Member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survived by one daughter, Betty Svitak of Grand Island; two sons, Don of Fort Collins, Colo. and Robert of Lincoln; and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, one son, Roger; one granddaughter, six brothers and three sisters.
