Al V. Garrett Kerrville Daily Times (TX) — Friday, September 21, 2012 Services Wednesday DALLAS — Al V. Garrett, 90, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in Dallas. He was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Kerr County to Mack and Letha V. (Munson) Garrett. On July 5, 1942, he married Mary Louise Hamlyn in Center Point. She preceded his death on April 4, 2004. Al served in the Army during World War II. He worked hard all his life. He was a county extension agent for Mason, Real and Gillespie counties. In 1979, he retired from the Department of Agriculture. Al loved God and his family. He also loved the land, hunting, horses and playing dominos. He was very generous to others and was involved with the youth in the community. He was a member of Center Point United Methodist Church, Center Point Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Schulze and husband, Donald of Mason and Marilyn Bennett of Tallahassee, Fla.; son, James Bryan Garrett and wife, Jo-Anne of Weatherford; sisters, Ima Dean and Ruth Murphy, both of Austin; brother, Billy Gene Garrett of Center Point; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Center Point United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Adam Knapp. Masonic graveside services with military honors will follow at the Center Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center Point Masonic Lodge or to the Center Point United Methodist Church.
