Ave Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, United States Obituary - Obituary of Jay Swartz Jay B Swartz was born April 28, 1927 in Hanna, OK to Jay & Florence (Janes) Swartz and passed from this life on April 9, 2016 at the age of 88. Upon graduating from Cherokee School Jay began his 41 year driving career with Gillette Motor Transport which later became Roadway. He was awarded several safety pins and was known as a professional driver. Upon his retirement he enjoyed many duties which entailed school crossing safety guard, pet rescue and 12 years of activity at All American Fitness. He was never one to simply sit still but rather thrived on action that would ultimately serve others. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 38 years, Evelyn; his brothers, Alfred Swartz, Henry Swartz, Jay C Swartz, Charlie Swartz and Johnny Fowler. He is survived by his step daughters, Diana K. White and Charlotte Gayle Biven and her husband, James; his sister, Verna West; his 3 step granddaughters, Christina, Rebekkah & Hannah; and many nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made in Jay's honor to: Animal Aid of Tulsa, 3307 E 15th St, Tulsa, OK 74112. *Personal Note- Swartz started out working for Yellow Motor Freight then shortly after went to Gillette Motor Transport, then continued with the company when it became Western Gillette Motor Freight in Tulsa Oklahoma office. He was a LTL "less than truckload driver" He always kept up with the "old" Western Gillette employees thru phones calls and visits, as well as old friends from his friends in the Sperry and Turley areas; chatting, or playing dominoes.
