Bio

Rutha Nell Miller, 81, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Pastor Keith Clifton officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Rutha was born November 21, 1934 at Noodle, Jones County, TX to Bill and Louise (Grover) Herring. She worked in central supply at Hendrick Medical Center for seventeen years. Survivors include sons, Glen Rogers and Mark Rogers both of Merkel, Dale Rogers and wife Terry of San Saba; sisters, Betty McBay and husband Bill of Garland, Patsy Thompson and husband Duke of Potosi; brothers, Jimmy Herring and wife Betty Sue of Lafayette, LA, Rickey Herring and wife Marilyn of Victoria; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, E.W. Herring Jr.; and sisters, Erma Llewallen and Bessie Jean Fortune. Memorials may be made to the Shriners, St. Jude, or Hendrick Hospice.
