Alfred E. Nabity, 86 of Grand Island died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Father Donald Buhrman will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family. Mr. Nabity was born January 8, 1930 near Chapman, the son of Joseph and Wilhelmina (Trubl) Nabity. Survivors of the immediate family are his wife of nearly 60 years, Beata; their children, Cindy (Ron) Van Dyke of Omaha, Deb (Jim) Glasser of North Platte, Ellie (John) Plambeck of Grand Island, Fred (Jean) Nabity of Lincoln, Gary (Janet) Nabity of Omaha, Irene (Jim) Parent of College Grove, TN, Janet (Clark) Osborn of Omaha, Kim (Matt) Meister of Kearney, Marie Dudley of Bonita Springs, FL, Nick (Heather) Nabity of Lincoln, Olinda Woodruff of Kingwood, TX, Peter (Kellie) Nabity of Omaha, Quentin (Kim) Nabity of Omaha, Rachel (Donovan) Hauser of Grand Island and Stephanie (Paul) Scholz of Omaha; 53 grandchildren and a step grandchild; 23 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Dr. Stanley Nabity of Grand Island, Richard Nabity of Grand Island, Joe Nabity of Omaha, and Virgil Nabity of Lincoln and his sisters, Virginia Nabity of Cortez, CO and Martha Dibbern of Grand Island. He is preceded in death by his daughters, Helen and Lorita Nabity; his parents; brothers, Ernest, Ray and George Nabity and a sister, Angela Nabity. Alfred was raised near Chapman graduating from Chapman High School. He attended Creighton University. He served in the United States Army from April 1951-March 1953. On June 23, 1956 he was united in marriage to Beata Dubas. They made their home in Grand Island where Al worked for Tony’s Loan and Northwestern Mutual before starting his own Tax & Accounting Services business. Memberships included St. Leo’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. During his lifetime he donated 21 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, socializing with his coffee buddies and playing cards with his kids and grandkids.
