SMSGT Elvis Jemmie "Jim" Lafosse, USAF, Retired, 86, of Austin, passed away on March 30, 2016. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery. Jim was born in Kinder, Louisiana, to the late Evrell and Mary (Duplashan) Lafosse. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 until 1970, retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. On October 2, 1950, he married Elizabeth Jean Sternnadle. Always one to provide for his family, Jim sometimes worked two jobs to ensure that his wife did not have to work. He worked several different jobs after his retirement from the Air Force and eventually began working for Covert Buick and Cadillac in 1992. He worked there until 2012, and thought of his coworkers as a second family. Jim loved what he did, and a job was much more than just a job to him. He built lasting relationships and truly was a "people person." He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 64 years, Elizabeth on March 10, 2014; brother, Jesse; and sister, Lurline. Survivors include his sons, James Russell Lafosse and George Anthony Lafosse; daughter, Jean Lafosse Hobbs; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Archie Lafosse, Robert Gordon, and William Gordon; sisters, Loretta Gordon and Linda Newell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
