Bio

KILLED BY A COW. Last Thursday evening S. E. Brown's little ten year old son, Marion, was on his way from his father's to his grand father, E. M. Cooksey's house. Passing through a pasture field, the little fellow spied a cow with a young calf and thought to drive her up for attention, when the cow became enraged and attempted go gore, but being dehorned, she could only butt him. She knocked him down and so bruised and disabled him that he could not get up, and lay there till late in the evening, when Mr. Cooksey, going out after the cow, found him and carried him home. No bones were broken, but he was so badly bruised that he died Sunday, and was laid to rest Monday in the family burying ground of the Blacks. The sympathy of all who knew the facts are enlisted with the heart sick parents and relatives. E. Brown, who lives near Temple, died yesterday from the effects of injuries received last Thursday. The boy visited his grandfather, Mr. Cooksey, Thanksgiving day, and approached the house through a pasture. He found there that a "muley" cow had a young calf, and he attempted to drive them to the lot. The cow attacked him, butting him down and rolling him over on the ground. Mr. Cooksey late that evening learned that the cow had a calf and decided to go drive her up. He found the boy helpless, and in a good condition to be frozen. No bones were broken, but internal injuries were received, resulting in death yesterday. (The Nacogdoches Plaindealer, Nacogdoches, Tex, Dec 1, 1898
