(Abilene Reporter August 1, 1998) Ruby Anderson SNYDER -- Ruby Anderson, 90, longtime teacher at Stanfield Elementary, died Thursday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Snyder First United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Robertson and Craig Curry officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Mrs. Anderson was born in Roscoe and earned, from Abilene Christian College, a bachelor's degree in 1948 and master's degree in 1957. She moved to Snyder in 1957. She taught school for 54 years. She was named Outstanding Woman of Snyder and Outstanding Older Texan, both by the American Association of University Women. She was a charter member of Cogdell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a life member of Stanfield Elementary Parent-Teacher Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widow of Edwyn M. Anderson, whom she married in 1947 in Abilene. Survivors include one nephew, Dr. Allen Hopper of Atlanta; and one great-nephew, Keven L. Hopper of Atlanta.
