Bio

T. J. Phillips, 92, of Davis, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at a Sulphur nursing home. He was born August 28, 1923 in Ada to Elmer Leeroy and Lillian Inez Morris Phillips. He married Phyllis Jeanne Ruhl January 6, 1988 in Shawnee. Mr. Phillips was a E-8 Master Sergeant in the U. S. Army, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Dougherty Baptist Church, the Davis Lodge #42 AF & AM, and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, of the home; a daughter, Anita Akin and her husband Phil of Oklahoma City; a granddaughter, Tiffany Broyles and her husband Jeremiah of Newcastle; grandson, Bailey Akin and his wife Stephanie of El Reno; five great-grandchildren; a step-son, Randy Crawford and his wife Carol of Davis; step-daughter, Karynn Morris and her husband Danny of Davis; five step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth Phillips; and sister, Geraldine Hopper-Davis. Services are at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Ray Talbott and Alan McCoy will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The U. S. Army Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
