Bio

William Kisler was born October 11, 1864 in Nobbe County, Indiana and passed away at the break of day May 6, 1947 at his home in Polk, Nebraska. With his parents, he came to Nebraska in April 1872, filing on a homestead on the section adjacent to the Wilson addition of the present town site of Polk, later moving to Arborville. On February 25, 1896, Mr Kisler was united in marriage to Bertha Dobberstein at the home of his parents in Arborville. To this union six children were born: three daughters and three sons. A daughter, Elsie, preceded him in death March 29, 1917, and his wife on September 1, 1939; also five brothers. Being one of the early settlers of Polk, he will be greatly missed by his old time friends. He believed in living a good Christian life though he never joined a church. He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters: Mrs Ida Green of Gering, Neb., and Mrs Verna Gibson of Central City, Neb.; three sons, Edward of Central City and Virgil and Henry of Polk; a brother, Bert of St Louis, MO., and four sisters, Mrs Minnie Hessman of Corning, Calif., Mrs Elsie Honess of Ashton, Idaho, Mrs Maude Bedient of Hemingford and Mrs Cora Blair of Arborville. Also 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 daughters-in-law and a son-in-law, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at 2:30 Friday. Interment at the Arborville cemetery. A C Bates, pastor, officiated. The Polk Progress 05/15/1947
