Jacobsen, 55, of Belle Fourche died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital. She was born in Belle Fourche on March 2, 1953 to Anthony and Evalyne Schmaltz. Cathy married LaVerne Jacobsen in 1978. To this union two daughters, Jennifer and Heather were born. Cathy was a nurse at Queen City Medical Clinic in Spearfish. Cathy was loved by all that came in contact with her. Even her patients have expressed their grief. She is survived by her mother, Evalyne Schmaltz, Belle Fourche; husband, LaVerne Jacobsen, Morrison, Colo.; daughters, Jennifer Jacobsen, Omaha, Neb. and Heather Jacobsen, Belle Fourche; brother, Larry (Patricia) Schmaltz, Temple Terrace, Florida; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Rosary/Christian Wake will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father Christopher Hathaway presiding. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, PO Box 147 Denton, NE 68339.
