Bio

Lucy Laverne Bowen, 97, formerly of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on June 11, 1918 in Paris, Arkansas. She is the daughter of William Fernando "W.F." and Leona (Ladd) Mize. Lucy passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Malakoff, Texas. Lucy enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, painting and going to church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Lucy was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. Lucy married her best friend Harry Bowen on October 21, 1939 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Harry preceded her in death on January 4, 1997. Lucy is survived by her son, Harry Dean Bowen and his wife, Betty Louise of Mabank, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lucy is preceded in death by her parents W.F. and Leona Mize; husband, Harry Bowen; daughter, Clara Jean Lehrman; three brothers; Ralph Mize, Finis Mize, and Eli Mize; and two sisters, Jensee Robertson and Rachel Finley. Memorials can be made to charity of your choice in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, 600 W. Country Club Blvd, Elk City, Oklahoma 73644. Graveside services ~ Monday, March 28, 2016 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma. Pastor Terry Jordan will officiate. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
